As a graduate of the school of Creative Industries, (Queensland University of Technology) and holding a Masters Degree in Communication (Charles Sturt University), Shona applies theory and structure to the details of creative endeavour. Penning her original, award-winning work ‘Leviathan Krymer’ as a third year theatre student, Shona adapted the work into a thirty-minute independent feature. ‘Leviathan Krymer’ successfully premiered at the Queensland New Film Makers Awards as part of the Brisbane International Film Festival, claiming the gong for ‘Best Independent Drama,’ and ‘Highly Commended Best Director.’ The short also received the ‘First Time Filmmakers Award’ at the Exposure International Film Festival. Constantly challenging her capacity as a writer, director and producer, Shona has morphed into a content and media specialist. Overseas projects include the coverage of key global events such as World Youth Day 2000 in Vatican City, the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games, The Whitehouse and US Congress post 911, as well as a documentary project filmed in Israel. Shona has sought to provide a creative outlet and safe place for at-risk youth, co-founding a creative workshop endeavour which spawned several projects including the dynamic urban poetry workshop ‘Mystics’ in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. As a Strategic Content Director in the Government landscape Shona excels at creating and commissioning groundbreaking content and media product for executive, internal and public audiences, across multiple platforms and channels.
